Round Rock, Texas – September 13, 2016 – Hope Alliance Crisis Center of Williamson County held the 10th Annual Fundraising Dinner and Golf Tournament at the Cimarron Hills Country Club in Georgetown over the weekend and raised more than $150,000 dollars for victims of domestic violence and sexual assault. The crisis center is the only domestic violence and sexual assault shelter serving the citizens in Williamson County.
Texas baseball legend and Hall of Fame Pitcher Nolan Ryan and his wife Ruth spearheaded the fundraising event. The money raised helps house more than 400 victims of domestic violence and sexual assault each year at the shelter in Williamson County and keeps the victims, friends, and family members safe from imminent danger, additional harm and possible death.
“Nolan and Ruth Ryan are amazing Texans. Their generosity and commitment to Williamson County and victims of sexual assault and domestic violence is unmatched. We are thankful for their leadership, dedication and vision for making our community stronger and their tireless devotion to helping our citizens be safe at home,” said Patty Conner, Chief Executive Officer of Hope Alliance.
Many people think of the shelter as the Women’s Shelter of Williamson County, but the largest group of shelter residents are children, including newborns. Hope Alliance provides a continuum of services including shelter, counseling, legal advocacy, case management and housing support.
