Sweet Treat: Life-sized Wedding Dress Cake Created For Bridal Selfies

Every bride dreams of one day wearing the perfect wedding dress, but those coming to the Houston Bridal Extravaganza this weekend may want to eat theirs. A Houston culinary artist has created a life-sized, edible bridal gown that will become an interactive display at the show.

“It’s five feet tall and there’s an open back so brides will be able to pose as if they’re wearing it,” explains cake designer Nadine Moon with Who Made the Cake! “I’ve done some pretty extreme sculptures, but this one takes the cake.”

The cake is iced-elegance. Special touches include a flattering ruched bodice, ruffled ball gown skirt and floral bling accents.

“In Texas we’re known for doing things big and a little over the top,” says Laurette Veres, producer of the Bridal Extravaganza. “We know brides will be standing in line waiting to make a selfie and then post it on all their social media accounts.”

The show has come up with a special hashtag for the cake — It’s #bescakedress and the bride who gets the most retweets during the show will win a free wedding cake.

The media is welcome to get shots of the cake and get interviews with Nadine Moon before the show at her bakery:
