Country Superstar Martina McBride gives out Top Award on Concert Tour

COLUMBUS, OHIO — On Sunday, Feb. 21 during the Martina McBride concert at Nationwide Arena, Limited Brands will receive a prestigious honor bestowed on a company for championing the cause of domestic violence. The Vital Link Volunteer Achievement Award recognizes Limited Brands and its associates for its partnership with the National Domestic Violence Hotline in adopting domestic violence shelter residents in their local communities through their Giving Tree Program. The Hotline receives more than 21,000 calls a month from families in crisis and has taken nearly 3 million calls since its launch in 1996.

“Limited Brands is being honored for its generosity and support, on a local and national level for domestic violence prevention, education and victim empowerment programs,” said Sheryl Cates, CEO of the Hotline. “It is a tribute to a company that has dedicated its time and resources to a cause greater than itself, especially in the tough economic times our country is facing when the demand for services is so great.”

Through Limited Brands’ Giving Tree Program, associates have the opportunity to adopt families and work with the Hotline to adopt shelter residents by purchasing gifts for mom’s during Mother’s Day and for families during the holiday season. “Last year, we assisted more than 19,000 women and touched more than 30,000 lives in families through our Giving Tree program,” said Janelle Simmons, director of Community Relations and Philanthropy for Limited Brands. “For more than 40 years we’ve remained dedicated to improving the communities where we do business and continue to focus on making a positive difference in the lives of our associates, our customers and the families in crisis.
