Houston, Texas- It took a lot of pucker power, but a young Houston couple has proven that they have the stamina needed for a long and happy marriage.
Alice Romero and Alfonso Gonzalez stayed lip-locked for more than two hours, outlasting half a dozen other couples to win the Bridal Extravaganza’s annual “Kiss Off.”
“We thought we were just coming to shop for our wedding. We didn’t know we’d spend the whole afternoon making out,” laughs the groom-to-be Alfonso.
The couple won a honeymoon to a 5 star resort in Riviera Maya, Mexico. They plan on getting married this summer.
“I have chapped lips right now, but it was worth it. Our honeymoon is paid for,” says Alice, the bride-to-be.
Laurette Veres, the producer of the show and creator of the kissing contest, says this makes for a happy ending for a very deserving couple.
“They kissed non-stop standing up with no meal or bathroom breaks,” she said. “Marriage is about teamwork and they’ve certainly demonstrated they have that down.”
The Bridal Extravaganza runs through Sunday at 5pm. It’s one of the largest shows in the Southwest attracting more than 5,000 brides over the weekend.
