Houston, Texas – Temperatures may be flirting with triple-digits outside, but there’s a blizzard going on inside the George R. Brown Convention Center in downtown Houston.
The Bridal Extravaganza is going on all weekend and organizers have decided to literally make it the coolest place in town.
If brides get cold feet at this show, there’s good reason.
Organizers are bringing in a snow-making machine and have hired famed “chainsaw ice sculpture artist” Reverend Butter, who’s going to be creating a life-sized bride out of a block of ice.
“Between the falling snow we’re creating with the machine and all the flakes of ice that will be flying off of that chainsaw, brides are in for a real winter wonderland,” says Laurette Veres, producer of the Bridal Extravaganza.
For more than a dozen years Houston legend Reverend Butter has been thrilling crowds with the almost rock star way he’s able to turn 300 pound blocks of ice into works of art. His chainsaw flies around faster than a Fender guitar at a heavy metal concert.
His years of intense study with the tools of the trade- chainsaw, chisel, blowtorch- trained him to not just make shapes out of ice, but transform it into what lay inside from the beginning.
“Everyone has seen ice carvings at weddings, but I guarantee they’ve you they’ve never seen anything like this,” explains Reverend Butter. “When the Bridal Extravaganza asked me to come up with something different, I instantly thought of creating a ice bride wearing a real wedding dress. It’s going to be masterpiece made from fire and ice.”
Reverend Butter will begin sculpting at 11am and should be finished by 3pm.

The show is open to the public and runs from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday and 11a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday at the George R. Brown Convention Center.
