Houston Bridal Show Offers the Royal Couple a One Million Dollar Wedding Dress
(Houston) She’s the queen-in-waiting, so doesn’t Kate Middleton deserve a wedding dress with a royal price tag?
The Houston Bridal Extravaganza is offering to loan soon-to-be Princess Kate a dress blinged out with one million dollars in diamonds, sapphires and other precious gemstones.
A local jeweler and bridal shop owner teamed up to create this glamorous gown that, if chosen, will become the most famous wedding dress since the one worn by Princess Diana 30 years ago.
“In Texas we’re known for doing things big and a little over the top,” says Laurette Veres, producer of the Bridal Extravaganza. “This dress is absolutely stunning. It would make any girl feel like a queen. I hope the Royal Family takes us up on our offer. It would be a tremendous honor to have Princess Kate walk down the aisle in something created here in Houston.”
Taska Ventura, owner of Ventura’s Bridal in Houston, admits she felt a lot of pressure designing this bedazzled dress without going to excess.
“The whole world will be watching,” says Ventura. “With a million dollars in jewels to work with, it would be easy for it to become gaudy. I wanted it to be tasteful and elegant, just as Princess Diana’s dress was. If Kate Middleton accepts our offer to borrow this dress, the style could shape bridal fashions for years to come.”
Ventura had so much fun making the wedding gown; she went ahead and created a sexy party dress for Kate to wear at the reception.
“Like any young person she likes to dance and go out to the clubs,” explains Ventura. “She’s not going to be able to dance in the gown, so I thought I’d create something she could cut loose in.”
Select Jewelers in Houston is providing the gems and they plan to keep the gown and party dress under heavy guard when they’re on display Saturday at the Bridal Extravaganza at the George R. Brown Convention Center.
